Volunteer Opportunities - Walk for Independence 2010

The team recruitment committee focuses on recruiting team captains to participate in the Walk. (corporate, friends, church groups and family teams.) They also help captains grow their teams by assisting in establishing goals, helping build event excitement and ensuring great team recognition on event day. It is imperative that they lead by example by starting a team at their own company, church or with their family.

Goal:

To recruit new teams from area corporations, family/friends groups, and church/civic organizations. To enhance relationships with and results from registered teams.

Expectations and Responsibilities:

The Team Recruitment & Cultivation Committee is ultimately responsible for two areas of team development - recruitment and cultivation. First, they identify and recruit corporate teams, friends and family teams and teams from church/civic groups to participate in the local Walk for Independence. They also work to enhance the relationships with registered teams through personal visits, phone calls, and email. They endeavor to encourage team growth in members and increased fundraising amounts.

Volunteer Job Details:

  1. Recruit 1 - 5 committee members
  2. Develop a list of potential Walk teams by reviewing the list of current supporters (individual walkers, sponsors, etc.).
  3. Work the list of potential teams (calls, visits, mailings) to turn them into real teams.
  4. Keep accurate records of all team recruitment activities and the results.
  5. Maintain contact with team captains throughout the Walk season to enhance the relationship and see to their needs.
  6. Recognize companies and team captains for their efforts on Walk day.
  7. Calculate award winners and see to the presentation of their awards.
  8. Effectively track all activities and turn in all records to the walk coordinator.
