Introduction: Personal Safety

Each year, almost 26 million people in the United States are victims of a crime. While the majority of crimes committed are property crimes (such as theft or vandalism), others are violent.

Unfortunately, no one is immune to crime. But you can improve your chances of avoiding crime with some simple personal safety and self-defense techniques. These, combined with a commitment to working with relatives, neighbors, friends, and coworkers to build safer and better communities, can change the odds of you or people you care for becoming victims.

This course is intended to help by teaching you how to avoid or respond to potentially dangerous situations.
