Advocacy in Action is provided to voice our position and to educate and provide information on legislative issues that will directly impact the disability community. Our goal is to empower you to become a better self-advocate and encourage you to exercise your constitutional rights to ensure equal access for all.

Rahall Announces $147,636 for Huntington's Independent Living Center

U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall (W.Va.) announced that $147,636 is being awarded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) to the Mountain State Center for Independent Living in Huntington for home modifications for citizens with disabilities. Read more ....

October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Expectation + Opportunity = Full Participation is the official 2009 theme for National Disability Employment Awareness Month.

Mountain State Centers for Independent Living celebrated Disability Awareness again this year in partnership with Dee DeLancey of WOWK-TV, Mayor Wolfe, Delegate Stephens and many other people from the community including students from Marshall University. State Plan for Independent Living (2008-2010)

The State Plan for Independent Living (SPIL) has been finalized and approved by the RSA (Rehabilitation Services Administration) in Washington, D.C. We have provided the final version of the State Plan in PDF format for your review. [updated version dated July 7, 2008]
