JD is a 54 year old man who worked hard as a heavy machine operator. Four years ago, JD had a stroke that left him unable to speak, walk, or feed himself. Today, four years later, he is making significant progress. JD is up to 20 spoken words and makes use of various pieces of assistive technology to communicate. He is now able to walk short distances and there is great hope for his long-term ability to ambulate independently.
The Community Living Services Program worked with volunteer labor and a mixed source of funds, as well as negotiated prices with a local lumber supplier to build this ramp/porch combination. Please note that in these pictures, the majority of the ramp is not yet finished.
Total cost of this project will be under $5,000.
