Bathroom Modifications for Mr. P

bathroom modificaitonsMr. P is a 49 year old male whose disability is Tetraplegia which limits the use of his legs, arms and hands. Mr. P had been residing in the Valley Center Nursing Home for several months. The nursing home would not release him until his bathroom was modified to enable him to do his own self care. Mr. P had contacted several agencies before hearing about our Center.

When we told Mr. P that we could probably help him, he cried. An ACIL staff person visited Mr. P to discuss his needs and his functional limitations. He then met with a contractor and family member to do an assessment that required turning a room adjacent to Mr. P's bedroom into a bathroom. The modifications were extensive and included a Kholer Bidet. We then visited again with Mr. P and went over the plan for modifications to make sure they were what he needed.

Modifications were completed and after a joint meeting with a representative from the Valley Center Nursing Home, Mr. P was able to return home. He was very grateful and is now living independently with very limited family support.

Total cost of this project was $14,000.
